One strap button or two

Many acoustics leave the factory with a single button at the tail, and both ends of this strap are button holes, so a one-button acoustic cannot take it as it is. You have three options and the guide on attaching a strap to an acoustic compares them: a headstock tie behind the nut, a neck button fitted by a repair shop, or a strap with a lace sewn in. We don't sell any of the three, so that guide sends you elsewhere for the part.

Width, on a light guitar

A dreadnought weighs 4 to 5 lb, about half a Les Paul, so almost any leather strap spreads it comfortably and width is not the deciding factor it is on a bass. What you notice on an acoustic is the back of the strap, and this one is finished as suede.

Acoustic questions

Will it fit an acoustic with one strap button?
Not on its own. Both ends of this strap are button holes, so the guitar needs two strap buttons. An acoustic with only the tail button needs a headstock tie behind the nut or a neck button fitted by a repair shop; the guide on attaching a strap to an acoustic compares the three ways.
Will the suede back mark the finish?
The suede side faces your shirt, not the guitar. The strap touches the instrument only at the two button holes, so there is nothing rubbing on the finish.
Is a wide strap too much for a light guitar?
No. A dreadnought weighs 4 to 5 lb, so width is not doing the work it does on a bass, and there is no padding to make the strap bulky. What you notice on an acoustic is the grip of the suede back, which is what stops the guitar sliding forward when you play sitting down.
Does it work for playing sitting down?
Yes. Feed the tail through to a short slot so the strap only stops the guitar sliding off your leg, and lengthen it when you stand. The fit guide shows how the slots set the length.
