Why one strap and not a range

One strap, four colors, and a supplier who has quoted it, priced it and stocked it. A second strap goes up here when it clears the same bar, and not before.

The strap fits any guitar or bass with two strap buttons. If your acoustic has only the tail button it needs a headstock tie or a neck button fitted by a repair shop, and we sell neither, which the guide on attaching a strap to an acoustic covers in full.

Leather questions

Is this real leather?
Yes. Two layers of cowhide, stitched together down both edges, with the back finished as suede. That is what the maker states and what the photographs show. Neither the maker nor we claim a grade of hide or a thickness, because nobody has measured one for us.
Is it made in the UK?
No. Soldier makes it in China, and the parcel is posted from our fulfillment partner's warehouse there. What is in the UK is everything after the sale: the price in pounds, the person who answers your email, and the returns address.
How does two-layer cowhide differ from bonded leather?
Bonded leather is leather dust glued to a backing, and it cracks along the fold within a year or two. This strap is two whole layers of hide stitched together, so there's nothing to come apart; it marks and darkens with use the way leather does.
Will it break in?
A little. The strap is stiff for the first week or two and the tail can be tight in the slots. Wear it, and the shoulder softens and the tail feeds through more easily. It doesn't need oiling to get there.
How do I care for it?
Keep it dry, wipe it with a dry cloth and keep it out of direct sun. A plain beeswax or neatsfoot balm twice a year keeps the cowhide from drying out; skip anything with silicone in it. The care guide covers the rest.
