How the headstock tie works

Many acoustics leave the factory with one strap button, at the tail. This tie loops behind the nut, above the first fret, and gives the strap a second anchor without putting a screw into the heel of the neck.

Headstock tie questions

Does it affect tuning?
No. It sits behind the nut on the headstock, away from the strings. Keep it snug so it does not slip up into the tuners.
Is it better than adding a button?
A neck button is the more secure long-term fix and any repair shop will fit one for a small charge. The tie is for players who do not want a screw in the heel, or who use the strap on more than one guitar.
